Supervisors approve conditional use for septic replacement at 118 Geigel Hill Road

The Board of Supervisors voted to grant conditional‑use approval for a replacement septic system at 118 Geigel Hill Road after hearing testimony that the existing system is failing and poses environmental and health risks.

Applicant representative Gavin Lebowski summarized the application and the site constraints, telling the board the property is roughly 1.6 acres with steep slopes and portions that fall within the floodplain. He said the health department approved a sand‑mound design at the only feasible location on the parcel and argued the proposal meets the ordinance's 805(b)(2) standard because the replacement is necessary to abate the risk. "It poses a health and safety risk," Lebowski said in describing the existing system.

Board members questioned whether the proposed mound sits within the floodplain or riparian buffer; applicant witnesses said the proposed location is outside the floodplain and that a berm and topography reduce the risk of effluent reaching the stream. The motion to grant conditional use included conditions that the applicant comply with the exhibits and Wynne Associates review letters entered into the record. No individuals sought party status and no public opposition was recorded at the hearing.
