Planner proposes Landscape Ordinance changes; commission shortens inspection window

Judy Goldstein, the Wrightstown Township Planner, presented proposed revisions to the Landscape Ordinance at the Jan. 15 meeting, saying the current ordinance depended too heavily on plant piece counts and did not account for best growing conditions.

Goldstein told the commission the revisions emphasize the function of plantings rather than raw specimen counts, and walked commissioners through proposed list changes and inspection timing. Commissioners recommended adding species to the ordinance's accepted list and voted unanimously to recommend the additional species and to shorten the inspection window to mid-May through mid-October.

Commission discussion included which tree and shrub varieties should be included in the update and tighter timing for inspections to reflect planting seasons. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Jointure (the multi-municipal body handling ordinance adoption) for subsequent review.
