TCEQ asks stakeholders to review rules flagged by TRIO; comments due July 16

Charlie Fritz, deputy director of waste permits at the agency, told the advisory council that TCEQ and the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TRIO) jointly reviewed agency rules to identify obsolete, redundant or statute‑duplicating provisions and have posted a long list for stakeholder review.

"We were tasked with looking at our rules to find duplicate sections, where we copied state statute explicitly," Fritz said. He asked members to review MSW chapter items (including chapter 3.30 and section 3.30.63) and submit comments through the published link. Fritz said staff will not automatically remove rules simply because they were flagged, but will use stakeholder input to decide whether to modify or delete language.

Council members asked how TRIO's process worked; Fritz said the result reflects parallel work by staff and TRIO and that the posted list is the combined outcome. Staff will circulate the review link in the meeting chat and by email. The comment deadline announced at the meeting was July 16.
