Library meal boxes return June 8; trustees discuss cemetery and lake mowing arrangements

Mayor Donna Weber told the Board that the library will again coordinate distribution of free meal boxes for children 18 and under beginning June 8, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fire Station, similar to the prior year's program. The announcement was made during the Department Reports section of the May 18 meeting.

Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn described cemetery mowing plans, noting a contractor would likely mow the cemetery prior to Memorial Day and that limited rainfall had reduced vegetation growth. Wilbourn proposed using a larger personal tractor and a 15-foot mower to maintain larger areas around the Town lake and asked the board whether such work should be paid as contracted work or under his regular hourly pay. Wilbourn estimated the lake mowing could cost approximately $1,000 and take about six hours. A member of the public suggested opening the work to bids for transparency; Wilbourn said the anticipated cost did not meet the town's legal threshold for formal bidding but sought board direction before proceeding.
