Board hears bond and construction updates: Career & Technical Center bid schedule, resolved water-pressure issue and pod inspections

District staff told the board the Career & Technical Center multipurpose building will be advertised in local papers on Sept. 22 and 29, with a pre-bid meeting Oct. 1 and bids opening Oct. 15. Staff also reported that a water-pressure problem affecting the Career Technical Center had been resolved, avoiding the need for a water tank and fire pump and freeing funds for building work.

"The Career And Technical Center multipurpose building will be advertised in the papers by McKinley on September 22nd and 29th. There will be a pre bid meeting on October 1 for the project, and then the bid opening will be October 15," a staff member said. Staff provided progress updates on floors at Pieden Middle School, electricians returning to sites for final work, pavement installed at the new school parking lot and pod deliveries to Mullins Elementary. The fire marshal was scheduled to inspect Mullins/Mullen Elementary the next day to approve the pods for student use.

Staff also described damage to a gym floor at Burling McKinney caused by a roof leak and said vendor quotes and temporary facility-sharing arrangements with Oceana Middle would allow athletic seasons to proceed without delay. SERVPRO had visited three sites and was preparing quotes for cleanup and repair work.
