Board approves updated Muncie Central athletic handbook, citing modernization and appeals changes

Administrators presented an updated athletic handbook for Muncie Central, saying the athletic code of conduct had not been revised since 2015 and needed modernization. “The athletic code of conduct has not been updated since 2015,” an athletics presenter told the board, describing work with coaches and comparison schools to set a baseline for changes.

The update includes references to the district’s online registration system (transcript reference: “Bridal Forms”), clarified appeal language so appeals move from building principals to Dr. Reynolds as CEO in certain employment or suspension decisions, added language about college-bound athletes and conference affiliation, and incorporated updated technology-policy expectations. Administrators said families will see the handbook in the final online form and that printed copies are available; they also said the district is working toward ADA-compliant website access.

Board members asked whether parents receive copies and where to find the final forms; presenters confirmed the handbook will be available through the online system and that the district provides printed copies on request. The board moved, seconded and approved the athletic handbook update by voice vote.
