Burr Ridge approves police‑department addition site plan amid stormwater questions

The Burr Ridge board approved a site plan for an addition to the police department, including six requested variations for parking, landscape width and a building height increase to 34 feet, 3 inches.

Tom of Delterra Engineering described the stormwater design, saying the site uses a unit‑area method with a required volume of 0.95 acre‑feet and that the current design "is exceeding that by 10%." He acknowledged the design reduces storage compared with a previous project but said additional alternates could be bid. Trustees asked whether a 25‑ or 50‑year storm would be contained; the engineer said the system as proposed would begin to overtop between a 25‑ and 50‑year event and that overflow would reach County Line Road under extreme conditions.

The board voted to approve the site plan and variations after discussion; staff said bid alternates will give the board options to increase detention at additional cost if the board chooses that path during award.
