Board hears lower Daktronics estimate for LED concourse signage project

The authority reviewed scope and pricing for a concourse LED signage and lighting project. Rob summarized that Daktronics submitted updated numbers, lowering a previous $1,415,000 estimate to a new range between roughly $1,170,000 and $1,300,000 depending on final scope and whether the project uses LCD monitors or true LED video modules.

Committee members discussed long-term maintenance tradeoffs: LCD panels may be cheaper up front but can require replacing an entire panel if a small section fails, while LED modules can be repaired in smaller sections at higher initial cost. "If we go the LED route through Daktronics, now you're in modules, which is a much smaller area to break and have to replace if we have to," Rob said, and members asked staff to await electrical/general contractor bids arriving later in the week before final decisions.
