Planning Commission re-approves two land developments; Hilliard setback modification sent back for revision

At its May 12 meeting, the Jefferson Township Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors re-approved two previously approved land developments and discussed a separate setback modification request.

The commission voted to re-approve the Penn United Land Development and the Nativity of the Theotokos Land Development (the latter after confirming that required contingencies were completed). Supervisors moved to re-approve both as previously approved; both motions carried unanimously.

Separately, Doug and Joan Hilliard submitted a modification request to place a shed approximately 8 feet from the left property line (minutes note the measured distance was 7½ feet on one side). The neighbor, Ray Spinetti, provided a notarized letter of approval, but commission members raised concerns about access to the rear of the property—citing an existing shed, pool and deck plus a steep rear drop. The Planning Commission recommended denial of the requested left-side setback change; supervisors discussed options at length but did not vote and instructed Mrs. Hilliard to return to the Planning Commission with a revised, detailed modification application.
