Granton board directs clerk to hold Nov. 3 referendum on $400,000 revenue‑limit question

The board on Aug. 6 adopted a resolution directing the District Clerk to call a referendum to be held at the regularly scheduled election on Nov. 3, 2026 to submit the Revenue Limit Resolution to district electors. The motion was made by Erica Bender and seconded by Daniel Schoessow; roll-call vote recorded Erica Bender, Jamie Elmhorst, Theresa Hasz and Daniel Schoessow as "Yea" and Douglas Eichten absent. The motion carried.

The resolution specifies notice and ballot procedures consistent with Wisconsin law: publish a Notice of Election and a Notice of Referendum (with a facsimile of the sample ballot) in the Tribune Record Gleaner on the required publication schedule; post the Notice in each polling place on election day; provide actual ballots and specimen ballots; file the form of the ballot with county clerks no later than 70 days before the election; and, if the district prepares ballots, deliver them to municipal clerks at least 52 days before the election to allow absentee-ballot processing. The board also directed the District Clerk to notify the Department of Public Instruction and to have boards of canvassers certify local returns and submit them to the District Clerk for an open canvass meeting no later than 9:00 a.m. the Tuesday after the election.
