Board closes hearing on small zoning change near Hickman

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners opened and closed a public hearing on May 5 over a proposed change of zone on roughly 5.91 acres at 9950 Stagecoach Road, about a quarter-mile east of South 96th Street.

George Wesselhoff of Planning and Development told the board, “The proposed change of zone is AG agricultural to AGR agricultural residential.” He said the property owner wants to locate an accessory building to the east of the house and needs the AGR side-yard standard (15 feet) rather than the AG 60-foot side-yard setback. Wesselhoff said the area on the county’s future land use map is identified for AGR and that adjoining AGR zoning exists to the south; he also reported no opposition at the planning commission.

Chair Krista Yocom opened the hearing for proponents, opponents and neutral testimony; no members of the public spoke and the board closed the hearing. The record shows staff described the request as consistent with the comprehensive plan and recommended proceeding with the zone change process. No formal objection or additional conditions were recorded during the meeting.
