Council approves Home Depot site plan for Crestview Planned Development with design tweaks

The council approved a detailed site plan, elevations and landscape plan for a planned Home Depot in the Crestview planned development district (PD‑179). Mary Ann/Miriam Spencer of planning staff summarized the project: a home improvement store with an attached 28,156‑square‑foot garden center, outdoor display rules, screening and rooftop equipment screening. The site is in the regional module and staff said the plans comply with PD standards and include many of the extra design features requested in prior discussions.

Jordan Corbett, the applicant’s site consultant, said Home Depot incorporated council feedback into the elevations and parking layout. Council members probed parking-stall widths (the plan shows a mix of 9×18 and 10×20 stalls, with many 10×19 prototype stalls) and access near Fire Station No. 1. Fire Department chief confirmed emergency ingress/egress patterns and the department discussed plans to secure its parking and coordinate the shared drive; staff said a required traffic signal has TxDOT approval and must be installed in phase 1 before occupancy for the project.

Council approved the site plan with an amendment requiring that the applicant add cornice elements to wrap both the northernmost and southernmost projected panels on the rear elevation to better integrate views from the roadway; the motion passed 6–0.
