Whitehall board approves routine minutes, hires staff and greenlights campus painting bid for public solicitation

The Whitehall School District Board of Trustees approved several routine consent items, personnel hires and a request to open a public bidding process for a campus exterior painting project.

Committee member moved to approve the minutes of the last meeting and the board voted to adopt the motion. The board also approved claims and accounts for the high school and elementary school after separate motions. "I motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting," a committee member said during the opening vote.

On personnel, the board approved hiring Will (middle school girls basketball coach) and Jay Johnson as an elementary paraprofessional; both hires were recommended by staff and passed by voice vote. The board also approved updates to the substitute list, adding a recent Whitehall graduate as a substitute teacher. Staff noted background checks were completed where required.

On policy, the board voted to adopt renumbered and updated policies as recommended by the Montana School Boards Association. The board also approved opening the public bidding process for a campus exterior painting project after staff explained available TIF and building-reserve funds would be used to offset costs if bids are acceptable. The motion to open bidding passed; staff will return to the board with bid results and a recommendation in April.
