Two planning tools — seven questions and a logic model — simplify library health program design

Anderson introduced two complementary planning approaches attendees could use: a concise checklist of seven questions and a simplified logic model. The "7 key questions" prompt planners to identify the target audience, program type, timing, location, rationale, outreach methods and resource needs; Anderson suggested these help libraries decide whether to create a short one-off event or an ongoing program.

The logic model was presented as a visual tool that links inputs (staff time, funding, equipment) to activities (workshops, screenings, reading clubs) and expected outcomes (increased knowledge, behavior change, attendance targets). Anderson suggested starting with desired outcomes and working backward to define inputs and activities and recommended documenting assumptions and external factors that could affect results.
