Sodus Point Planning Board discusses adopting Pittsford guidelines and standardizing application requirements

During other business the Planning Board and attendee Amy Kendall discussed whether parts of the Pittsford Standard Operating Procedures and Residential Design Standards & Guidelines should be incorporated into the Sodus Point zoning code. Chair Bruce Evener and members reviewed a draft; Evener provided a hard copy of the Residential Design Standards & Guidelines to Clerk Linda Youngman and said he would email another document to members for review.

Amy Kendall argued the board should require applicants to provide standardized materials (for example, landscaping plans) and described a desire to prevent additions and pole barns that are out of scale with neighboring properties. Members discussed potential numeric limits for pole barns (discussion referenced an example 30 x 30 ft limit, with an exception suggested for parcels over two acres allowing up to 35 x 35 ft), possible joint meetings with the Zoning Board, and additional work sessions to improve public guidance and enforceability; Kendall offered to attend a June 15 meeting if available.
