Commission plans to join resource fair and expand vetted resource guide

Commissioners discussed opportunities to use existing community events and resource fairs to promote the commission's work, share resources with older adults and recruit volunteers. Several commissioners asked whether the commission could staff a booth at an August 30 event featuring a Japanese tea ceremony and noted the importance of coordinating with Onion Creek Senior Center and other partners.

One commissioner explained details about the event and its likely date and attendance; staff said they would check with the city manager and facilities to confirm whether a commission table could be provided and would follow up with a volunteer call when logistics were finalized. Commissioners also discussed a resource guide and the city policy that partner organizations must be vetted and approved; staff said nonprofit partners are easier to include and that the city will vet any resource listings through the manager's office.

The commission agreed to continue refining the resource guide and confirmed that staff support will be needed to maintain an updated partner list on the redesigned city website. Commissioners were asked to forward partner contact information to Matthew Wright so staff can verify and update the partner list.
