Waterloo Local board completes organization meeting, adopts standing authorizations and OSBA membership

The Waterloo Local Board of Education held its organization session and took nominations and roll-call votes to fill board officer roles and confirm standing administrative authorities for 2026.

Chair (speaker 1) opened nominations for board president and vice president, multiple members made nominations and the board completed roll-call votes. The board adopted the organization agenda for 01/08/2026 and approved standing administrative authorizations: treasurer authority to accept gifts up to $500 (unless conditioned), secure tax advances, invest funds with interest credited to appropriate funds, pay presented bills, modify appropriations and prepare blanket certificates up to $100,000 for recurring operating expenses. The treasurer is to maintain a performance bond of $100,000.

The board also voted to retain legal counsel firms listed during the meeting and approved membership and virtual transportation services with the Ohio School Boards Association for the 2026 calendar year; OSBA delegates and alternates for the capital conference were named. The superintendent was appointed appeals officer for student suspensions, and the board set meeting dates and times for regular 2026 meetings.
