Residents tell board they value cursive return as 'beautiful art form'

During the Committee of the Whole public exchange, Mrs. Vivian thanked presenters and said community members have repeatedly asked for cursive instruction to return, calling it a "beautiful art form" that has been lost in many schools. "This is, an item that has been brought up to me many times from the people in the community...this is a skill that has been lost and people are really sad about that," she said.

Board members and committee members responded with support and context: one committee member noted national interest in cursive literacy and a staff member said the district will present the finalized curriculum at the Sept. 2 board meeting. The meeting record shows community support will be part of the documentation when the curriculum is placed on the board agenda.
