Whitehall reports higher kindergarten turnout and introduces 'ELM' early-math pathway

Staff member told the board the district's kindergarten roundup drew 30 attendees this year, an increase from 21 last year, and outlined changes to early math programming.

"We had 30 that it attended that, which was huge," Staff member said, noting strong community interest. The staff update said the district is calling the initiative "ELM" (early routine in mathematics) for now and expects the program to be a qualifying pathway in the end-of-program requirements. Staff member added that ELM classes are full with 18 students per class and "we do have, 1 or 2 on the wait list." The update also noted that required testing is complete and that teachers are making classroom placements for next year based on academic performance and classroom fit.
