Panel approves Box Elder County application for RNG CDBG pipeline grant

A Box Elder County CDBG panel voted to approve submission of a Community Development Block Grant application to extend a pipeline that county staff and volunteers say will improve water pressure and flow in the Riverside area. The panel recorded an oral "Aye" and the chair announced the motion passed.

Volunteer grant writer Maryann Lane told the panel she helped write the application and described the project as a pipeline hookup to an existing well near solar fields in Plymouth. "I'm Maryann Lane," she said when introduced. Lane said the project would connect to an 8‑inch pipe under the freeway and run roughly 400 feet south to bring culinary water into Riverside. She confirmed the application asks for "195,000." Lane emphasized the grant request covers the pipeline connection only; conversion of the wellhouse and building a culinary treatment system are separate steps not included in this application.

During discussion commissioners asked about coordination with the Bear River Water Conservancy District and whether a section of the county master water plan should be attached to the application. County staff suggested pulling the relevant excerpt from the 350‑page master plan for the Riverside/Garland area. The panel was told it should know a result in about six weeks.
