Cypress Island Joe Dig drainage project near completion; administration requests $44,000 internal change order

The council heard an update on the Cypress Island Joe Dig drainage maintenance project (phase 2) and a proposed administrative change order adding $44,000 to cover unexpected costs.

Parish President Pete Delcomb said the project is largely complete and crews are addressing punch-list items once water levels recede. He explained the $44,000 request as an internal change order: roughly $15,000 for relocation of machinery and about $30,000 for fencing that had to be replaced after being removed for construction access. Delcomb said the project was budgeted at $1.7 million and approximately $1.3 million has been spent to date, leaving roughly $400,000 in contingency; as such he recommended the council approve the administrative adjustment.

Delcomb also answered questions about fencing locations and explained why some fencing was removed during construction and will be reconstructed. The council did not record a formal roll-call vote on the administrative change during the meeting; the president said project completion and contract administration remain on schedule.
