Superintendent lays out three-part strategy and five goals in draft district improvement plan

Superintendent Dr. Wenzel told the board the district's draft improvement plan rests on three core strategies: central office reorientation to help principals become stronger instructional leaders, investments in principal leadership and capacity, and deeper teacher collaboration through professional learning communities (PLCs). "So with that, our improvement is really based on 3 big ideas," Wenzel said during the presentation.

Wenzel described a planned three-year partnership with PLCs at Work and said the district had identified five priority goals for the year — math, English language arts, attendance, graduation rates and delivering Evergreen Elementary on time and on budget. He said the administration would bring the plan forward for board approval in October alongside school improvement plans and suggested the superintendent's evaluation should be connected to progress on these goals.
