Union seeks written expectations before introducing stipends for additional class advisers

Union negotiators proposed adding freshman and sophomore advisers to the stipend structure but asked for written expectations of adviser duties to justify any change in pay. Several teachers said duties vary and that stipends should be tied to documented responsibilities (prom, graduation, concessions, fundraising).

District negotiators said the handbook already lists duties and agreed to make the relevant document available. "If we're gonna give them a stipend, there should be some rules and responsibilities that come with that stipend expectations that come with those stipends," one union member said. The parties agreed to review handbook language and return with proposals tying any stipend changes to a clarified duties list.
