Board approves consent items, policies, goals and multiple personnel actions; ratifies one suspension

The board moved through consent and policy items, approving routine attachments and contracts by voice vote. The chair called for a motion and the board recorded approvals for consent agenda items, policy attachments and financial procedures; multiple votes were recorded as unanimous (5–0) where roll-call tallies were given.

Board members also approved the board of education goals (student attendance, mathematics growth and fiscal responsibility) and separately approved superintendent goals aligned to those measures; the superintendent will be responsible for those goals beginning Oct. 1. In executive session the board considered an employee-discipline matter and subsequently ratified the suspension of Mark Rach/Mark Ratchford without pay from Aug. 18 through Aug. 31. The board then approved a lengthy personnel slate—service and professional hirings, reclassifications, extra-duty pay, and extracurricular assignments—as presented by the superintendent; most personnel motions were approved by voice roll call with a single recusal recorded on one item.
