Fairview staff outline first code-maintenance package, timeline and public outreach

City planning staff told the commission they have compiled roughly 20 code topics for a maintenance package that will include editorial corrections, clarification of development standards (for example parking-surface and canopy rules) and organizational changes to make standards easier to find. Staff said they will separate straightforward fixes from items that await state rulemaking guidance and will provide public notice and comment on the package.

Staff proposed outreach in the October Fairview Point newsletter, a work session in late October to solicit public feedback, a consolidated meeting in December to review a draft and a public hearing in January to consider adoption. "We this have not done sort of an overall kind of code maintenance, update for quite a while," staff said, noting past updates were tied to middle-housing compliance and other targeted changes. The commission signaled general support for a phased approach and asked staff to return with a more detailed list in September.
