Commission approves invasive-phragmites management plan for Conroy Terrace meadow

Consultant John Zimmer presented a targeted invasive-management plan that identifies the densest stands of phragmites, reduces tree removal where possible, and doubles replacement plantings in the former tennis-court area. Zimmer said the plan includes monitoring and coordination with the commission for planting locations. "I did go out to the site and identify those areas that are shown on the plan where the the largest pockets of phragmites are," he told the commission.

Commissioners and an abutting owner discussed demarcation to avoid lawn expansion into the meadow. The commission asked that marker posts identifying the meadow limits be required if the property changes hands so future owners do not convert meadow to lawn. The commission voted to close the matter with monitoring and planting conditions and to add those deed/tracking provisions.
