Planning commissioner urges more meeting time and updated master-plan process

During public comment, Debbie Todd identified herself as a planning-commission professional and requested that commissioners consider directing the Planning Commission to meet more than the statutory or existing minimum of four times per year so it can meaningfully review a 100-plus-page master plan.

"My name is Debbie Todd, and I'm a planning commission professional, and I'm speaking on behalf of the planning commission," she said. Todd told the board quarterly meetings are not a realistic expectation for doing the detailed work required and asked whether the commissioners would give direction on meeting frequency and administrative support, including website updates. The chair said staff would research the bylaws and that a bylaws subcommittee would consider adjustments so the Planning Commission can complete its work.

Commissioners thanked Todd and noted staff will follow up; the board agreed the Planning Commission's chair should coordinate meeting schedules and that administration would help update posted meeting times and materials.
