Veterans advisory council adopts three shared goals for 2026

The Imperial County Veterans Advisory Council voted to adopt three common goals for 2026 — expanding access to veteran health care, strengthening partnerships to reduce veteran homelessness, and increasing veteran community outreach — after a motion put to the body at the special meeting.

A council member moved to adopt the goals “as presented” and put them on the record as working priorities; the mover said, “I move to approve, these these goals as presented Common goal.” The motion received a second and the chair called for a voice vote; members answered “Aye” and the chair declared the goals adopted. The goals were presented as a condensed set of priorities drawn from members’ individual proposals and listed as the committee’s shared agenda for the year.

Supporters said formalizing the three goals will allow the council to track ongoing county projects and short-term initiatives tied to those priorities. Council members noted projects already underway — including facility upgrades and outreach programs — would remain active, while newcomers and smaller projects can be added to the working list and reported back to the council for further action.
