Commissioners debate reopening front courthouse doors vs. single point of entry for court security

County staff and commissioners discussed public confusion over access to the courthouse front (south) entrance after a single-point-of-entry security measure was implemented.

County staff (Kayla) said many visitors "wander around the building trying to figure out how to get into the building" and urged opening at least one front door or adding clear wayfinding; she noted the single-point plan had not been fully implemented as originally described (no full-body screening). The sheriff's office representative said the single-point entry was adopted per recommendations from the Court Security Commission and CISA, that cameras and court-security staffing are configured for north-side entry, and that the measures have reduced incidents. Commissioners requested a copy of the prior court-security assessment and agreed to revisit the matter.
