Bonham ISD board approves targeted improvement plan after data discussion, 6–0

Bonham ISD trustees voted unanimously to adopt a targeted improvement plan after staff presented initial data, planned interventions and a preview of the public hearing materials that will accompany the plan in December. Staff said Region 10 had reviewed the draft positively and described required student-outcome targets and next steps for submission to the state.

Trustees questioned the presentation’s numeric benchmarks and asked for clearer correlations between MAP median-percentile results and STAAR/STAR predictions. Staff explained that the district is implementing new unit-assessment tools and progress monitoring to create clearer growth targets and to better predict end-of-year results. "We can't correlate perfectly in every grade level," a staff presenter said, describing efforts to align MAP data with unit-assessment letter grades and STAR results.

A trustee moved to approve the plan; after a second and brief discussion the board recorded the vote as 6–0 in favor. Staff said the plan will be entered into the state submission system and that a public hearing and community presentation will be scheduled in December to explain the plan and its outcome targets.

Board action preserves a step the district must take to comply with state targeted-improvement requirements; staff said the plan will be refined with clearer benchmarks and a revised slide deck for public presentation.
