Board approves direct hire of contract maintenance worker

Klamath County commissioners approved an exception to policy to directly hire Frederick Rollins into the vacant Maintenance Technician 3 position, effective Sept. 7, 2026. A staff member told the board Rollins has worked in that role as a contract employee since April 10, 2026.

The move was presented by a county staff member on behalf of Maintenance Director Glenn Gregory, who requested the hire as a transition from contract to full-time employment for an already-budgeted vacancy. “Frederick has been working in this position as a contract employee since 04/10/2026,” the staff member said. A commissioner made the motion to approve the exception, a second was recorded, and two members recorded “aye” votes in the transcript; the motion was recorded as passing. The staff presentation noted the hire would have no fiscal impact because the position is vacant and budgeted.
