Select Board approves prioritization order for wastewater Phase 1 connections

The Select Board voted to accept the Wastewater Committee’s recommended prioritization for Phase 1 service connections and extensions in South Londonderry. S1 (project presenter) outlined four priority areas and explained that the recommendation shifts focus from gallons to dollars as the team prepares bid documents. The committee ranked options as: infill (most cost‑effective), Middletown Road extension, Main Street extension, and Old School Street extension — the latter pushed to fourth because Old School Street was recently paved. “So priority number 1 was identified as infill, as that would be the most cost effective option,” S1 said.

S3 moved to approve the order of prioritization as described in a Sept. 5 memo prepared by the working committee; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members discussed how connections will be added or subtracted to fit the budget and confirmed that properties who have not applied to connect will not receive stub‑outs. The presenter also noted the state has offered an additional $500,000 toward treatment capacity, which would increase system capacity if formally provided.
