Drainage projects underway; crews working evenings and Saturdays, completion targeted end of July

The River Ridge CDD heard a status update on ongoing drainage improvements June 23, with all four sites under construction and crews working evenings and Saturdays. District Engineer Charlie Krebs said sites are cleared, silt fences are in place, and fill is staged; pipe installation in Oak Run is scheduled for the week of June 29 and sod installation in Turnberry and Palmetto Dunes is likely the week of July 2. If grading is completed on schedule, the project is expected to finish by the end of July.

Mr. Krebs said 12 affected trees in Palmetto Dunes will need removal and replacement (mostly slash pines and two red maples) and that six cabbage palms at Oak Run must be removed and replanted. He also reported a contractor struck an air‑conditioning coolant line during clearing; Mr. Long contacted the owner and the line was repaired, with the cost to come from contingency. Mr. Krebs will provide a log of additional costs — including a pre‑construction environmental review required by the South Florida Water Management District — to be included on the next agenda.
