CDD advances gatehouse renovation bid documents and discusses aesthetic options

The River Ridge board received an update on continued planning for Pelican Sound gatehouse renovations, including progress on permitting and bid preparation.

Charlie Krebs reported the application was sent to the Village of Estero and that checks were issued by Bowman, Inc. He said the draft bid document language was forwarded to District Counsel Tony Pires and Cleo Adams, the district manager, and that once counsel approves the language Mr. Adams will prepare a public advertisement seeking sealed bids. The board discussed value engineering for the main entrance monuments and aesthetic options such as lattice or landscaping; Mr. Krebs also reported that metal gates at the US‑41 main gate are being replaced and will be similar to the Williams gate and that paver replacement is included in the scope.

Eric Long responded to a concern about a double‑gate concept backing up traffic by saying the front entrance would generally remain open during daytime. No formal motions were recorded on the gatehouse item on June 23; the board took no vote to award contracts at this meeting.
