Authorized agent seeks metal rooftop screening at 1200 Technology Way to support server testing

Randall King, authorized agent for FFV IL Libertyville, LLC and representative of Architects by Design, presented plans for rooftop screening at 1200 Technology Way during the Appearance Review Commission’s Sept. 16 meeting. He said the building will house an MBX Systems testing room and that the additional rooftop units are needed because "this building, they will be creating a server room for testing, which generates a significant amount of heat," requiring extended screening and repainting of older screens.

King said the new screening will be metal and designed to match the existing screening in both material and color; older screening on the roof that has degraded will be repainted. Commissioner Mike Kollman moved to recommend that the Village Board of Trustees approve the application in accordance with the submitted plans; Commissioner Brian Enochs seconded the motion and it carried 5–0. The recommendation advances the proposal to the Village Board for final action.

The presentation noted no changes to the building structure beyond the rooftop equipment and screening; the record indicates the screening work is intended to be purely cosmetic and functional, matching existing materials. The commission’s vote was advisory to the Village Board of Trustees, which will review the recommendation at a subsequent meeting.
