Riverbend Trail paving delayed; contractor declines to give a firm date

Commissioners pressed Dan for a schedule on Riverbend Trail paving at the Sept. 2 meeting. Dan said RC Pavers (Ryan Christiansen, out of the Wausau area) completed final grading but told staff it would not promise a paving date because larger road projects and weather can change crews' schedules. "They will not promise a date," Dan said, and commissioners expressed frustration at the lack of even a tentative window.

A representative of the Riverbend Trail group said he would contact Rod (another local contractor) to attempt to secure a date; Dan said he will continue to contact RC Pavers and "poke them" but cannot force a schedule when crews are committed to longer road segments. Commissioners asked staff to keep the group updated; final grading completion was described as the key sign that paving is forthcoming but that no firm date exists yet.
