Board hears RFQ recommendations for storm-damaged athletic fields and broader recovery projects

County Manager Alan described the procurement process for architect and engineering services on storm-damaged athletic fields, saying the county ran a 30-day RFQ in line with FEMA procurement requirements and received three statements of qualifications. The selection committee recommended Cook Engineering as the primary firm and a secondary firm recorded in the transcript as "McCavs" or "McCabbs" (spelling unclear); Alan said the next step will be negotiation of contract terms with the selected firm.

Alan also listed a set of recovery and capital projects that will be advanced in the coming budget year, including stream-bank stabilization, property debris removal, full restoration of recreational fields through FEMA funding, modernization of the animal shelter, relocation of the agricultural extension office to Bowman campus, a new transportation base in Spruce Pond, conversion of Bowman into a resiliency center, remodeling classrooms at Bowdoin for displaced county departments, and construction of a new emergency management facility with storage capacity. "We ran that RFQ for 30 days as FEMA requires, and we got 3 statements of qualifications," Alan said when describing the procurement process.
