Planning panel approves Hulst Heating addition pending fire and PCI clearance

The Dorr Township Planning Commission voted unanimously April 21 to approve a site plan for Hulst Heating & Cooling to add a 3,000-square-foot, two-story metal addition at 4566 Division St., parcel #05-012-001-31, contingent on administrative review by PCI and satisfaction of fire-department requirements.

Applicant Ryan Hulst told the commission the addition will include a single 12-foot by 12-foot garage door and a service door. He said photometric data had been sent to Jason at PCI and could be provided if needed. Fire Chief Fordham told the panel the project needs a closed connection between buildings, a Knox box keyed to Leighton Township Fire Department as required by interlocal agreements, and 20-foot fire lanes on both the east and west sides with signage and ongoing maintenance.

Commissioner Rebecca Snider moved to approve the plan pending PCI approval and resolution of the Fire Chief’s concerns; Larry Dolegowski seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote; the minutes record that "all voted in favor." The commission’s action directs PCI to complete administrative review and for the applicant to confirm fire-lane, Knox-box and connection details before final permitting.
