Administrator reports code-enforcement activity, compost facility reopening and recycling totals

The village administrator reported on code enforcement, parks and public works activities. He said there are currently 29 properties on the code-enforcement list; one property owner was cited and ordered to appear in magistrate court on Sept. 9. The administrator also said the compost facility reopened on Sept. 1 and that the village amended the operating agreement with the solid-waste district to avoid charging the village for a second mulch grinding that otherwise would have exceeded $30,000 in costs.

The administrator noted that the pool is closed for the season and that one of two new pickleball/tennis courts needed a final fence-mesh installation but that the work should be complete. He said recycling pickup for August totaled 25,740 pounds and that the village loaned bins to the fair to collect event recycling. The administrator said he will obtain quotes for security cameras at the service department and the fire-training facility and return recommendations to council for funding and appropriation.
