Council approves amendment to Verizon Wireless agreement after engineering review

The Strawberry Point City Council voted to approve Resolution 25-25, an amendment to the existing contract with Verizon Wireless to authorize equipment modifications to an existing installation. The resolution was introduced and discussed during the meeting; Council members recorded affirmative votes and the resolution passed.

Staff member said Verizon provided a detailed engineering report and that the vendor's analysis "suggests that the work that they're proposing to do will have no net difference about the same way that they're putting up that they're taking down." Staff also said Verizon already holds a lease on the site and intends to use existing brackets and infrastructure rather than adding new mounts. The mayor asked about timing; staff said Verizon is aiming for late summer to early fall but had not set a firm date and requested council approval before scheduling. Staff told the council it will publish the engineering report, including water-tower excerpts, on the city's website for public review.
