System Solutions outlines decade-long Oracle cleanup, seeks cross-department fixes

Asha, director of the county—s System Solutions team, told commissioners the department is working to make Lucas County—s Oracle deployment more functional for users and reduce manual tracking done in spreadsheets.

"System solutions is more the functional side of Oracle. We're the liaison between the users and LCIS," Asha said, describing the team—s work getting salary components loaded in an "incremental" format so pay elements are preserved for reporting. She said that change, completed in March, "allowed us to do better tracking for union negotiations and for OMB for budgeting purposes." The presentation noted the team has cleaned about 80% of department and supervisor assignments that were imported from the prior PeopleSoft system.

Commissioners pressed on why problems from the 2018 migration persisted and how county staff should report issues. Asha said users should submit a ticket through the county—s Freshservice system: LCIS handles technical access and stability issues while System Solutions addresses process questions and automation. "If you have a question on how can I improve what I'm doing? ... then yes, you would come to system solutions," she said.

The presentation also covered forthcoming work: loading position costing to improve payroll and OMB integrations, testing HCM-to-ERP integrations quarterly, and deploying a learning module for staff training. A commissioner who described themselves as a former LCIS supervisor said the two functions must work in tandem given roughly 3,200 county Oracle users, and praised the departments for their efforts.
