Allen County sets Oct. 8 public meetings for three Child Support Enforcement rehiring plans

The Allen County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 25 set public meetings to consider retire/rehire agreements for three Child Support Enforcement Agency employees.

For each employee the Commissioners reviewed a proposed Memorandum of Understanding that would allow the employee to elect payout of up to 240 hours of sick time or to keep their sick-time balance on the books. Commissioners described two wage options upon rehire: an employee may keep their current hourly wage but be ineligible for future increases, or accept a 10% wage decrease to remain eligible for future increases. The public meetings were scheduled for Oct. 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. (Clay Balyeat), 2:30 p.m. (Jackie Whitaker) and 3:00 p.m. (Vicki Tarr), with a proposed rehire date of Nov. 1, 2026.

The action to set those public meetings was recorded on the consent calendar and approved by roll call. Commissioner Cory Noonan moved to approve the resolution to set the meeting dates; Commissioner Beth Seibert seconded and the resolutions were approved unanimously. The hearings will provide an opportunity for the affected employees and members of the public to comment before the Commissioners take a final vote.
