NASH renovation grows in design‑development phase; board shown $223M–$245M program range

SiteLogic and Schrader presented the design‑development update for North Allegheny Senior High (NASH), showing renderings and a phasing plan that includes a pool addition, auditorium upgrades, expanded restrooms, a new vestibule and site circulation changes intended to maintain school operations during construction. The firm said some design changes (relocation of the pool addition, additional restroom fixtures required by Allegheny County plumbing code, and reconfigured circulation) increased scope beyond the original schematic layout.

As a result, the presenter said program estimates for the combined projects now show a suggested base bid of about $223,000,000 and that adding major alternates could push the total above $240,000,000 (presented as a $223M–$245M range). SiteLogic emphasized alternates and prioritization so the district can pursue a path back to its original budget if bids come in high. The team noted a $1,250,000 RCAP grant for the pool that would be reimbursed to the district and that previously stated energy savings (from other ESCO work) were not included in the program totals presented tonight.

SiteLogic outlined a construction intention to begin major site clearing in spring and to schedule interior renovation work during summer months where possible to reduce disruption to classes. The consultants said permitting is ongoing and that a schematic design package for NAI/NAI projects will be presented at the October board meeting.

Next procedural step: the firm expects to present schematic design at the October meeting and said alternates will be available at bid time to manage the final contract price.
