Library staff asks county to approve repairs after rooftop A/C leaked into ceiling

Arlene Kately, identified at the meeting as a library representative, told commissioners that rooftop air‑conditioner drain lines had soaked multiple ceiling tiles and ruined a long section of insulation, and she urged the county to approve repairs before winter.

"We do have a big section of inner insulation missing that was soaked in the ceiling that he pulled out about 15 foot long section from the outside wall back to where it was leaking that was ruined," Arlene said, describing the condition and the risk of ice damage if the insulation is not replaced. She presented a contractor bid to replace piping (which she and commissioners said appears to be the wrong schedule of pipe) and to reinstall insulation and tiles.

Commissioners agreed the pipe grade should be corrected and asked staff to pursue contractor follow‑up and arrange replacement work as soon as possible. One commissioner said, "If they put in the wrong schedule of pipe, they should fix that," signaling support for asking the installer to remedy the issue when possible.

Why it matters: library staff said protecting the building envelope before winter will prevent further damage and possible higher costs for roof and structural repairs. The commissioners authorized staff to move forward with the repairs and to try to secure the right materials and contractor response.

What’s next: library staff will contact the contractor for scheduling and will inform the commission when bids or invoices are ready for formal approval if required by procurement policy.
