River Ridge to trim Lake E1‑B Canna lilies annually after resident concern

The River Ridge board added a late agenda item on the Canna lilies in littorals at Lake E1‑B and discussed a resident request to remove them. Vice Chair Terry Mountford said he was "impressed by how pretty the Canna Lilies are this season" but board members considered bank stabilization, erosion, the planting entity, nutrient fertilization and whether trimming would hinder regrowth. The consensus was for Premier Lakes to trim the littorals annually in November; on motion by Keith Merrill and seconded by Kurt Blumenthal the trimming in November 2026 was approved unanimously.

Mrs. Cleo Adams will add trimming of the Lake E1‑B littorals to the Key Activity Dates and was directed to email the property owner, Mr. Ellis, informing him of the board's decision. Premier Lakes will monitor the preserve area (including bullrush growth noted elsewhere in the lakes report) and provide a photo to district staff.
