Board authorizes staff to negotiate contract amendment for fall-election support

Board members voted on Sept. 4 to allow elections staff, with counsel, to negotiate contract language for fall-election support after the office received a quote from a vendor referred to in meeting materials as "No Inc.".

"I did get, receive a quote from, No Inc., for, support for the fall," Patrick Becker said, and asked the board to authorize negotiation of contract language so the office could return next week with a formal document for approval. The board took a motion to permit negotiations; during the roll call the clerk recorded an "aye" and the chair's vote was recorded as "aye," while one or more members indicated they would abstain on the final approval recorded in that exchange.

Becker said he did not have a fully drafted contract ready today and proposed staff and counsel work over the coming week to finalize language for formal approval by the full board. Counsel present on the call indicated it would be straightforward to structure the amendment once terms were agreed and return it for a formal signing at the next meeting.

Because the meeting record contained overlapping remarks during the roll call, several individual votes were not unambiguously captured on the transcript. The office expects to present the negotiated contract or amendment for formal vote at the board's next meeting on Sept. 11.
