Resident raises preserve encroachment concerns; board asks vendor for homeowner proposal

Resident Judy Kessel told the board that roots from an adjacent indigenous preserve have encroached onto her side yard at 4611 Torrey Pines Court, preventing sod from growing and leaving sand and tire tracks when crews mow. "First, the issue started in a small area and grew bigger and bigger and is encroaching on the side of the property. Secondly, when crews come by with lawnmowers, they leave behind sand and tire tracks; this has been going on for the past two to three years," she said in the meeting minutes.

Staff and board members discussed possible remedies including grinding the roots, tilling the yard per GreenScapes' recommendation, removal of three palm trees from the preserve, shade and potential pool overflow as contributing factors, and who bears responsibility for repairs. Mrs. Adams stated GreenScapes should provide a proposal for the homeowner and Mr. Long said he will assist with mulching; Mr. Long will add mulching at 4611 Torrey Pines Court to his to-do list.
