Town reports progress on meters, PFAS testing and fiber project timing

Town administration and public works provided operational updates on utilities and infrastructure projects during the work session.

The town administrator reported that large-flow meters have been installed with a few adjustments outstanding and about 50 residential meters are already in place; staff expect more progress on billing software next week. He also said the town secured a grant to conduct PFAS testing, with initial rounds scheduled for April 28. Separately, the town confirmed Silver Star's fiber contractor will begin work May 4 and that CMC Concepts (local contractor) will perform this year's fiber project.

A council member asked when the town would be able to compare inflow and billed consumption to identify losses; public works said it will take about a month of data from the new meters before a reliable comparison is possible. The updates also included personnel and staffing notes for billing and public works teams.
