Design Review Committee approves Scott Lane parking screen sample after questions about scale

The Design Review Committee reviewed a physical sample of the parking screening material for P22‑254355 (Scott Lane S4 Flats) and recommended approval. The screening sample drew immediate attention from members who said the perforations appeared larger than expected and asked whether the material could oil‑pan or make noise when vehicles are present.

“Surprised how big the holes are,” one committee member said during the inspection of the sample. Staff reminded the panel that the DRC had previously approved the screening form in renderings and required a physical sample before installation. After brief discussion about material gauge and durability, a committee member moved to recommend approval and the committee approved the motion 4–0.

The applicant’s representative presented the already-reviewed rendering and the physical metal sample; staff noted the building permit has not yet been issued and that confirmation of installation details will occur before final construction. The committee’s approval was limited to the submitted material submittal as presented; no additional approvals were requested at the meeting.

Next steps: staff will record the DRC recommendation for the project file and the building permit team will confirm that the installed material matches the approved sample before installation.
