Board updates county park parking ordinance to reflect Phase 2 layout changes

The board adopted Ordinance 23, an amendment to the county park property parking code (chapter 350, article V) to reflect revised parking layouts created by the county’s Phase 2 building project. The clerk read the ordinance and Supervisor Taylor introduced the measure, describing updates to signage, employee-designated spaces and enforcement mechanisms.

Supervisor Taylor said the ordinance was vetted by corporation counsel, the sheriff’s office, the clerk of courts and building staff. "The phase 2 building project has altered parking layouts, and this ordinance needed to be updated," Taylor told the board, explaining that restricted parking would be marked with signs and employee areas would be highlighted on maps for staff use. The ordinance also gives the sheriff authority to issue citations for overnight violations and contemplates towing for certain violations.

After members’ questions about signage and missing committee signatures, the board voted to adopt the ordinance; the clerk announced the vote as unanimous (total votes 18) and the chair declared Ordinance 23 passed.
